Our most ambitious project: a complete workforce management platform built for construction companies operating under strict California labor laws. After our client faced a $1M lawsuit from meal premium violations, we built Shadow Shifts to ensure it never happens again. The system now tracks 300+ field workers, automates payroll, and handles complex compliance calculations in real time across multiple states.
Shadow Shifts is a mobile-first labor operating system with three interconnected apps: a crew mobile app for field workers to clock in/out with photo and GPS verification, a kiosk tablet app for foremen to manage dispatch, and a full admin dashboard for scheduling, payroll, and compliance reporting. The platform integrates with Sage Timberline for automated payroll export and calculates California overtime, meal premium violations, and shift differentials on the fly. What started as a custom build for one construction company became a partnership. We co-founded the business together and are now scaling to serve the broader construction industry.
